Meeting Ground

The Path from Shelter to Home.

 Rooted in Christian Values

Meeting Ground grew from the concept of "shelter" to the reality of "home" for people experiencing homelessness.

Our mission is to help meet basic human needs and to address the root problems that perpetuate the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Dr. Patricia N. Marks Named Executive Director of Meeting Ground

Meeting Ground, the 32-year-old ministry with people experiencing homelessness, announced today the appointment of Dr. Patricia N. Marks as their new Executive Director.  Dr. Marks will begin work in her new role on April 15, 2013.

A Deaconess consecrated by the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, Dr. Marks is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary. While in seminary she received their first Certificate in Urban Ministry for her work on issues of social justice. Dr. Marks also holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Maryland and a M.S. in Early Childhood Education.

“With over three decades of experience working in non-profit leadership positions, Dr. Marks brings to Meeting Ground a wonderfully unique mix of secular and sacred skills that we were seeking,” said Cathy Skelley, the Chair of the Meeting Ground Board of Directors. “She has a ‘people first’ style of ministry and we are thankful that God has brought us together. We are thrilled that she has accepted our call, and we are looking forward to her leadership and guidance on issues of homelessness and poverty.”

In accepting the position, Dr. Marks stated that she is excited about her transition into the Elkton/Cecil County community which she first learned about as a member of Leadership Maryland.  As a person committed to cooperation and collaboration, she is looking forward to engaging individuals, the business community, service providers, and congregations in the work of Meeting Ground.
