Roy Jackson, owner of Barbaro, the 2006 Kentucky Derby champion, will be the speaker at Meeting Ground’s 5th Annual Autumn Gathering, luncheon and silent auction. The event is on Saturday, October 11, 11:30 - 1:30 at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club, 507 Thompson Station Road, Newark, Delaware.

The story of Barbaro has inspired the country. This champion race horse was filled with heart and spirit, and challenged us all to overcome difficulties and to keep trying even against the odds. His tragic injury touched the country as people cheered, hoped, and prayed for Barbaro’s recovery. Although it was not to be, the memory of a champion remains strong with us, and challenges us in our best.

Roy has been a friend of Meeting Ground for over two decades. He and his wife Gretchen were early encouragers, and their faith and confidence in our ministry has always been a strong part of our success. Roy was a member of the Board of Trustees for over fifteen years. In addition to speaking about his experience with Barbaro, Roy will answer questions, giving us all a personal and close insight into their great and unforgettable adventure.
