More About Raven's Rolling Readers
Meeting Ground is sponsoring a new program called "Raven's Rolling Readers," which is being initiated by Raven Keane. Its purpose is to motivate children
to further their education through the use of books and to encourage reading to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem. In part the new program will
serve as after-care for former residents of Meeting Ground who have moved into the community. It will also be open to all children who are interested.
The Rolling Book Van has been fitted with bookshelves, and we have been collecting donations of children's books in good condition. Currently, we are in the
process of inventorying and cataloging all books. Once it starts, the van will begin a regular weekly route to neighborhoods and community centers. (More

A Boardwalk At The Beach
Telora Goodyear, 10/4/01
As I sat on the stairs of the boardwalk, I could feel the ocean breeze hitting me against my face and brushing through my hair. I could have sat there all day and
listened to the waves crashing against the shore as they came rolling in. I could hear the faint sounds of the people, joyfully playing in the water as the waves
towered over them, and I could hear the seagulls above me crying out in hunger begging the people below for their food. The scent coming from the pizza shop
on the left of me was very strong. It was so strong that I could actually taste the saltwater in the air, drifting in from the ocean. I watched the people running
around, playing on the beach and building sand castles, and people splashing around in the water, jumping over the waves coming towards them and pulling
them under. The large ocean in front of me spread out so far that it looked as if it covered the entire earth, and I stared overtaken by the beauty of the waves
drifting into nothingness on the shore. How majestic it made me feel, so alive, so strong, and as I sat there, for once in my life I truly felt peace, like no other
problems existed in my world any more, and this was all that mattered to me, and as I fell asleep that night, I felt comfort, no longer afraid.
