TRUE FRIENDSHIP
Through the years you have been there for me.
You have been the one to carry my burdens and never complain,
The one who held me together through my school years,
The one who was my strength.
Now it is time for you to take a break and let me be your strength,
The shoulder to cry on.
I am thankful for you.
You are a gift sent by God, and,
0me, I love you like a sister, and
I thank you for all you ve done for me.
- Alisha Roberts
MY TRUE LOVE
- Alisha Roberts
To you my love:
I have loved you since the day I met you.
You were the one who made me laugh,
Taught me how to loosen up.
You're the one I have never forgotten about.
And on this Valentine s Day I will be thinking of you,
And wishing you were here with me.
I love you and always have.
I will love you for now and forever,
Love you always, Anthony Vantresca.
THANKS to Carole Cole for bringing us several new outfits in sizes we much needed. Thanks, too, to our worker of wonders, Erik Schaumann, for agreeing to
undertake the repairs on the upstairs bathroom.
COMMUNITY KITCHEN
A pilot project called "Community Kitchen" has recently been organized in Elkton by some of the city s churches. A first meeting of the planning group was
held on Wednesday, February 23. While attendance at the meeting did not necessarily constitute commitment to the project, the informational meeting did result
in a plan and considerable interest. The plan is to begin offering a free noon meal on a Saturday in March in the Elkton Presbyterian Church at 209 East Main
Street. Different churches will provide the once-a-week lunch in rotation for a trial period of several months.
The hope is that the lunch will benefit persons in the Elkton area who are homeless, on fixed or very limited incomes or who are living alone and would benefit
from eating with others and having a chance to visit.
If you are interested in participating or in learning more about the plan, call Carl Mazza at 410-275-2936 or 410-885-5009 or e-mail him: <carl©meetingground.org>.
VOLUNTEERS
Meeting Ground volunteers met at the George Porter House on February 14 at noon and will meet again on March 21. Under the leadership of
volunteer-in-mission Barbara Dugan, the group is exploring what the needs of Meeting
Ground are for volunteers, what the needs of volunteers are for orientation and problem-solving and what the mission of Meeting Ground is. The group will
eventually decide what the need is for further meetings of this group.
GEORGE PORTER HOUSE
Cleaning, renovating, painting and furnishing the George Porter House is continuing as the date for opening to its first residents approaches. Thanks are due to
Hans Nafzinger for his attention to house wiring needs as well as to improvements needed in appliances and to Mike Woolsey for initiating painting. Barbara
Dugan has continued with much of the painting and collection of donated furnishings. To those from St. Andrews School and all the others who are assisting in
this project we extend thanks.
To offer services or furnishings, call Barbara Dugan at 410-620-4678.
The dream of the Task Force on New Ventures to provide longer housing than has been possible at either of MG s current sites is moving toward actuality. Our
thanks to these workers, too.
